Episode 52: Unconfirmed Reports

[Replies: 191]
The Clay Davis investigation could be a career-case, but Freamon still keeps a wary eye out for Marlo as he takes care of unfinished business. Will a fed up McNulty decide to take matters into his own hands? Plus, will Mayor Carcetti's concession raise police morale?

That's the bit of information I couldn't recall. I said awhile back that Sergei's murder rap was a death penalty case, but he's doing natural life. He had to cooperate in some way, but I couldn't put my finger on it. He sure did tell them which hotel room to find the Greek. How that affects his status with the Greek is unclear, as he was gone and may have been unaware of the jumpout.

It appears that Sergei can still reach out to Vondas, but it could very well be a front to get Avon paid and to cause a little mayhem. That scene where Avon was going on about having love for Westside does not ring true to me. He was way too enthusiastic to help the guy he just finished warring with. Talking business and playing the diplomat has never been his way, although he may have developed that skill in Jessup. His asking price was pretty low as well at $100K. Avon has to get his hands in the jar some other way. I think it's possible that Sergei didn't step to Avon. I think Avon may have been tipped about the money Sergei was getting and the fact that Marlo was on his visiting list. I think Avon then stepped to Sergei and told him to play along. While things could be just as they seem, it's very possible that this is the tip of the iceberg of a much larger setup. If I were Marlo, I wouldn't get involved with Avon like this. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

at the end of episode 52 I'm still confused to what McNulty was doing with the body. He was setting it up to make it look like what?

I have to watch it again because I can't hear/understand all the dialogue,but whatever McNulty was doing with the body, it had something to do with his conversation at the morgue with the female detective from the county where she was explaining something that was done to the body from her case which caused the coroner to say it was a murder when she knew it was not.

I don't understand why Sergei would still have connection with the Greek, when in Season 2, he clearly fingered his boss, and his where abouts.

Is it possible that Avon and Sergei is setting Marlo up with a bullshit deal?

SPOILER-SOME COMMENTS BASED ON EARLY VIEWING ON DEMAND!
Throughout the show, the following people(among others) have taken meetings with Clay Davis-
Mayor Carcetti and his aide Norman Wilson;
Mayor Royce;
Police Commisioner Burrell;
Stringer Bell (deceased);
Somebody in the Federal building lobby;
Frank Sobotka (deceased) the Port guy;
maybe the Greek(s)? (not sure);
Madame City Council President Campbell;
Prop Joe? (not sure);

His money could lead almost anywhere!

Re: McNulty's manipulation of the body-I, too, wondered
what he was doing, with the chalk-like marking on the pants
and the way he postioned it. Is he trying to make it look like
some kind of gay murder thing?

I think it could lead to Clarence, Narese and Burrell, they were/are up to some shady shit. Narese was tied up with Fat Face Rick, and some of those monies could've been funneled through the democratic state senator. Clay and Burrell are tight, as were Clay and Clarence.

"That's right. Wee-Bey walked in Jessup a man, and he gon' walk out one. But you out here, wearing his name, acting a bitch."

"You don't what, motherfucker? This how you pay me back for all the love I showed? Shit... I been kept you in Nikes since you were in diapers."

I think it is becoming obvious to Chris that Mike is not a soldier, he can think for himself. He is not built to take orders. This will lead to either his rise or his downfall. Also unfortunitly I think Bubbles is going to relapse and O.D. I also think Dukie is going to start using and Mike may have to body him for that not snitching. In the game your either a seller or a buyer and it is evident that dukie is no seller.
Also did you notice the backdrop for all the side stories. Everything this season is being based on a lie. From McNulty's fake seriel killer to the young newspaper writer fake poor boy in the wheelchair at the game.
