Good bye to this prolific, captivating, mind-blowing, and realistic depiction of all involved in "THE GAME." You may be gone but will never be forgotten. You have been a series that delivered exquisite writing and superb actors and actresses. Thank you for opening my mind and allowing me to go along on the journey that is The Wire.

"- innate caution of the introvert, high intelligence, and extreme physical courage (he never flinches) combined with training in the skill set of a top soldier in a ruthless, ultra-disciplined drug gang" michael was plenty shook when omar came up behind him with that gun - talking bout he the one who laid savino out the night before. but i completely agree that his profile completely matches what was in the book i just mentioned, which lists the stick-up artists like ferdinand, anthony, etc. -- bunk moreland: "You know why? "Reading this book is dimming my sadness at the closure of this series." there is a straight up wire book though, also. it is "the wire: truth be told" or something like that. rafael alvarez (another writer for the show) wrote it. they may do another one, cause it only has the first two seasons... i hope if they do -- it will be a paperback!!! hardcover is just too expensive nowadays. -- bunk moreland: "You know why? Finale Spoiler > What I find out in the final episode seems far > r fetched given what we know about mike and his > personality. Only if you weren't paying attention. - classic introvert ("always apart," as Snoop put it) - highly intelligent - distrustful of authorities, institutions, indebtedness, or any other form of "owning" people - no interest in power - concerned with "deserved" (e.g., Junebug) and takes pleasure in punking the "bad" guy (e.g., Officer Walker) - innate caution of the introvert, high intelligence, and extreme physical courage (he never flinches) combined with training in the skill set of a top soldier in a ruthless, ultra-disciplined drug gang - freed from any ties to that gang - personal familial responsibility reduced to providing money for younger brother safely ensconced in the suburban "paradise" of Howard County MD - no evident options for a life outside of the game ("A man gotta live what he know, right." -- Omar to Bunk) Add it all up and what do you get? A loner playing the game for himself, preying on drug dealers and enjoying it. It was at least a very real possibility and one that was being set up from Michael's first scene in season 4 standing apart from his other friends, thinking.

the wire has provided an incredibly true, and disturbing, look at urban america. there are just a couple of things that don't ring true for me.... - hasn't michael been paying dukie to watch bug? why doesn't he have any money? if michael can give bug a shoebox full of cash with a promise of more to come, why doesn't he give dukie a couple of hundred to get situated? - season 4: prez, the school principal, and the rest of the school teachers are "mandated reporters." they are required by law to report child abuse and neglect to children's services. i can see some reluctance to report if it's unclear whether the child will be better off in state care. but to not even have a discussion about it? and in dukie's case it's hard to argue that state care would have been worse for him than living without water, clothing, or food. even michael's situation, under reporting law requirements, would have needed reporting. to not even show a single conversation about whether or not to report doesn't ring true. anyway, haven't seen episode 60 yet. its a shame the series has to end...

We are all entiled to our opinions. Omar was absolutely NOT a punk. He feared no one. He took on the Barksdale crew, Bro. Mouzone, and Marlo Stanfield. A punk wouldn't do that. Now perhaps you're thinking because he was a homosexual this makes him a punk. Could that be it?

It is also possible, at the time, that Cheese thinks Levy will get him off the hook. The case is based on bad evidence after all.

Only thing I can think of - and we didn't see this in the show - Is that Marlow knew Cheese would get poped once he wasnt protecting him so he wasnt worried about Cheese giving him up. Or maybe Marlow talked with Slim got him to hit Cheese. Thoughts?

I thought this season was just as great as all the others. With Episode 59 being exceptional. -- Edited by donj0987 at 03/08/2008 10:44 AM

this last episode was the best directed episode of the entire season. its unfortunate that we had to wait ten episodes to get that wire feel back. Clark Johnson should of just directed the whole damn series but i guess having the first and last is not so bad, what a talent. but i have to say this season has been pretty bad and a bit of a let down but after watching ep 60 im about to break out the dvds and do it all over again. -- "See the Queen...
