Episode 60: RIP - THE WIRE

It's the end of an era. Pay tribute to the personalities, city and show that changed the way America views "The Game."

If the show's writers engineer Omar's return in #60, people will be talking about it 20 years from now. If not, I don't see how any "culmination" can come close to matching the impact of most people's favorite scene's and storylines from the previous seasons. All the shows most interesting threads were somehow tied to Omar. Without him there, the whole magnificent edifice collapses and turns into a strip mall out on the interstate somewhere.

The Sopranos was good in the beginning but I have to agree it really was no match for the Wire, But not trying to start a debate here. all i'm saying is this is about the Wire so lets give it the props it deserves, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I thought this Season was not as good as the others but have been proven wrong, the season is good we're just all hyped up on action at times if we don't see enough we get antsy. Well my respect goes out to the whole Wire team, writers (great work), actors (GREAT WORK), camera crew :) (great work), wardrobe (great work), everybody (GREAT WORK!!!!!)

The Sopranos can't touch THE WIRE. By far the best series I have EVER seen.

uh, yes it can and not going to debate apples and oranges. Let's see if the wire finale Crashes the HBO website 30 seconds after it's over and has an ending that's so creative and thought provoking it's debated about for months after it airs.

The Wire & The Sopranos were the best thing to happen to Television ever. Both pushed the envelope. Both gave us tv never seen before. One explored the soul and mind, and the other exposed the social issues of our time. Neither will ever be topped in my opinion. Throw them both into a blender and out comes SHOWTIMES Brotherhood, which is good, but no comparison to either. These two shows will be missed. What does HBO have in store next with the departure of these two heavy hitters. I watch Big Love with the wife but come on now, we need something more.

wow the end of an era...i love the wire...its been my show since season 2 and before then u had to go back and course everyone knows if you weren't watching the wire before that u had to go back and catch up....smh i cant believe the took omar out before the end i was soooooooo waiting for him to "work" marlo or atleast get at chris or snoop before his demise...but thats thing about the the wire its so real cuz in the streets your rep doesn't stop u from laying in the chalk... i was in utter disbelief when the had the little man take him out because they had no dealings up until that point but again that's what makes the writing so real it happens in the street like that.im going miss the show because up until the wire i had not seen a show since oz that kept me impatiently waiting every single Sunday to see what happens next...great show and to all the writers great job ..i am just sad now because i know there will be a long time before another show comes along that can tell the story of life on the streets,in city hall and the police department with such accuracy....

Oh my goodness, They say all good things must come to a screechin f*ckin halt! I have no words to express how dissapointed I am that the Wire will be no more. The wire had me rushing home and waiting by the Tv, like Bubbles tryna get a hit. lol On the real tip I wasnt really feeling the Wire in the beginning, but once i decided to watch like 12 episodes on demand, Sheeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiit, i was hooked.(lol)

This series was pure genius, it dealt with real people, real issues, and the real Baltimore, straight up-no chaser. I expect to see some awards given to the creator, writers, producers and actors. They did a hell of a job. I wish it werent over so soon.

This show had the ability to make you laugh, cry, get mad, cuss the characters out, have sympathy, sometimes I wanted to be in a scene to help. The wire touched on so many social and political issues as well. It's just da bomb

I'll miss you

Philly's mayor is holding a special screening of the final episode at City Hall on Sunday. Watch the finale with the mayor of Philly and the Bunk.

It is the end of an era. Cheers and RIP to three of the best 3-dimensional black characters in the history of dramatic television.

1) Stringer Bell for being the truth. A man trying desperately not to be bound or blinded by his envioronment. If only he could have made B&B legit. How Corleone is that? Better yet, how American.

2) Omar Little - Lets be real. We all knew where this was going but hats off to him just because he almost made you forget he was gay. Aside from the gay issue every ghetto has an Omar.

3) Michael Lee - For conveying the pent up frustrations in the choices every young man in the inner-city must make. I swear there is a little Mike in every city kid. Although he was the most complex, he was the one character i wish more background was given. There was a lot that was not said that 13-17 year olds who see this could relate to and maybe learn from. I get him because i'm adult but I think the kids will see him as a street smart/heroic figure and miss the real tragedy.

Here is a toast to all 3 for keeping it interesting you will be missed along with Snoop, Prop Joe, Bro. Mousson, Bodie, Bubbles, McNulty, Chris, Slim, and Webay

So much for HBO's promo "Catch EVERY episode of the final season of The Wire a week early on HBO OnDemand" That's BS because they screwed us on episode 10! HBO are LIARS!!!!!!!!! They should be sued for false advertising!!!!!!!

Also...

Thanks to the Writers and Producers of this amazing show for making so many of us "Wire Fiends."

While the show focused on the City, it's Drug Problems and the people the drugs impacted. Watching the show captivated a lot of the fans to where we caught that "Pandemic" for visitng this site daily, surfing for spoilers, speculating and predicting, seeking that ultimate HIGH of what's going to happen next.

Thank you Simon and Burns for making me an official strung out on the woop for 5 seasons drug addict.(LOL)

SOMETIMES I REALLY TOOK THIS SHOW PERSONAL, LIKE WANTING TO GO AND HELP AS MANY LITTLE BLACK BOYS ON THE CORNER, HUG THEM AND SHELTER THEM, JUST SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO END UP LIKE RANDY, MICHAEL,KINARD,AND DUKIE. BUT I CAN SAY THIS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A SHOW, I AM STILL APPRECIATIVE OF THE THINGS I DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH. BUT MY ONE QUESTION IS THIS

ONE MORE SEASON PLEASE?

Raise the roof for Omar Little the main reason I started watching The Wire from season 1. His character has me speaking in 3rd person a lot. -R.I.P.-
Omar know what one it is

Peace and Love to Bodie, even though I did not like what he and burning penis Poot did to Wallace I was hurt none the less Season 4 when he was shot down on his corner. -R.I.P- Heres a spit for you

Big ups to Kenard, although a very sassy smart mouth "Wanker-Bastid," he reminded me to always have my five on the black hand side ready for any of my children, nieces, nephews and pet poodle that even felt like they wanted to entertain a thought of mouthing off

Kudos to a very Handsome, Chocolate Sexy-B*tch B/K/A Stringer Bell. While very intelligent and conniving at the same time, his death in season 3 totally was a surprise. He came at the King........... AND MISSED! R.I.P.

Lester Freeman a very handsome old man aging gracefully, I will sure miss those bow-legs.

Marlo Stanfield for bringing us that villain you really LOVE to HATE. He was a mysterious character in season 3 and you almost rooted for him during the Barksdale/Stanfield war but nonetheless many of us learned why we should hate your ruthless black-ass in season 4

Honorable mention to Spida for his Jesse Owens/Carl Lewis scene in season 4 when Snoop and Chris came for Bodie, at least we know after the Wire you can go join the USA track team and bring home the Gold (Now THAT was some Spider-man sh*t right there)

Last but not least the one dude with a very unique and authentic catch phrase to say the least "Clay MUTHA-F*CKIN Davis, always good for a laugh in all the right places at the right time. Hey what can you say???SHIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIET!!!!

I think that the reality of this show is a little too harsh for me, but hey, it is what it is. Over time, I really grew to love the characters of the show and of course, developed favorites. My heart really goes out to Dukie, not necessarily knowing what will happen in the finale, but that last scene of him in the clip was extremely disturbing to me. Your heart can't help but to go out to people like Michael, who proved that he was very much able to take care of himself, but also TWO other people, or to Randy, who couldn't seem to win. In a perfect world, the snakes and low-lifes get theirs in the end, but thats what makes this show "real". Bad things happen to good people everyday. I hope that none of the spoilers are true, but if they are, this was an amazing show that I wish that I was hooked on earlier!!

I'm disppointed in HBO - Just as the majority of fans were let down by the last Sopranos episode, HBO has done the same again with not airing the last Wire episode on demand?? Why do it the entire season and not the last??

Why should I expect anything else from HBO anymore? Pathetic!
