Episode 60: RIP - THE WIRE

It's the end of an era. Pay tribute to the personalities, city and show that changed the way America views "The Game."

I'm satisfied with the series finale. I think it went out as it started with stark reality.
I was saddened to see that Dukie became a junkie. Poor kid never had much of a chance in life. Let's hope he will follow in Bub's foot steps and will live long enough to get clean and stay clean.
I was touched when Bubbles walked up the steps and through the open door and sat at the dinner table with his family.
Interesting but not surprising that the dope game ended back with the Barksdale family, right where it started.
Great show. Each season's finale brought tears to my eyes.
I plan on watching it from season one again.

I love how "the game" just keeps on going...Valcheck as commish--brialliant!, Freamon back in the pawnshop, a new Omar (Mike), a new McNulty (Sydnor), a new Bubbles (Dukie), Slim Charles the new boss, the new mayor (Nerese), new governor (Carcetti). Love the judge and lawyer aspect for Pearlman and Daniels. Kima and Bunk still working murders. Great show!

One question--where is Avon? I thought it was interesting to show Wee-Bay and Partlow hanging out together in prison (essentially two rivals now probably working together as often seems to happen). But, what about Avon? surprised they didn't show him.

I feel sad that it's over, but what a brilliant 5 seasons. Thanks!

Man I just finished watching the Season 5 Finale of The Wire and I have to say it was very disappointing to say the least. I have felt that way this entire season. I did not at all feel a connection with the characters like in past seasons. I knew it would be hard to top Season 4 but I in no way thought the final season would be this watered down and weak. In my opinion The Wire Season 4 may perhaps be the best season of any show in the history of television. During season 4 I couldn't wait until 12 AM on Sunday when the new episode would be available on HBO On Demand- It was the most into a show/series I have ever felt During season 5 I never experienced this feeling except for the first couple of episodes. By what I have read I can tell many loyal Wire fans share some of these feelings regarding season 5. What happened to all the great character development they worked on throughout season 4? A lot of the fantastic characters from previous seasons simply vanished in season 5. Some got brief cameos during the season but not nearly enough to do the characters justice or to let the fans know how their life stories unfolded. Another huge problem in season 5 was the divide between McNulty and Bunk over the serial killer case- that hostility between them ruined perhaps the best character chemistry in the entire show. And than Greggs rats out McNulty even after Marlo and his crew are arrested- give me a break. And who does not want to punch Scott Templeton in the mouth? Not even Templeton was served the justice he deserved in the finale instead he wins a Pulitzer award. Wouldn't it been a lot better at the end of the finale if Randy and/or perhaps Dookie were with Michael during the hold up. Or if McNaulty would have done something drastic on the side of the road or if Someone would tell the Mayor off for once or if a rich lawyer or politician actually ended up in prison for a change? I don't know I just needed more substance- I will miss The Wire but I will never miss Season 5.

I think there should be a few more seasons, everybody in my neighborhood and work are big wire fans. I see there's only a few votes, I'm going to see if I can get people to register so they have an oprtunity to vote. There's still alot of unanswered questions. What happens to MIke and Marlo? Even though the cycle goes on, there will always be bad guys out there waitng to take someones place. Even if they don't do Baltimore they can do a near by city where the cast relocates or even do a whole new city with high crime rates Chicago, Detroit, Gary, L.A.

First offf
Stop calling yourself OmarsProtege because you have no kind of gangsta in you! Your from the suburbs because anybody that believes Marlo stupid ass would baack Cheese with all his muscle ain't a smart gangster at all! How can you trust a man that helped you kill his own uncle.
What kind of sense does that make!
Which goes back to my point that Marlo is a bitch and Cheese was getting up in that ASS!!!!!!!!!!
