Episode 60: RIP - THE WIRE

It's the end of an era. Pay tribute to the personalities, city and show that changed the way America views "The Game."

dissappointed with marlo not figuring out after the knowledge of the wire tap to press his lawyer more because he had to figure out herc wanted revenge.

Classic look on the bunks face when mcnulty is asking for less help and he says "What the fuk you want me to do I cant make shit up, it is what it is." then simon makes another war reference with the bunk saying its like a war easy to get in hard to get out.

carcetti beaking his plasma and saying did someone not get the message about the copycat was a good one too.

amazing how chris is so loyal to mike, marlo tells cheese to get mike and chris locked up on dna from beating that stepdad still defending mike, saying he did snoop cause snoop was going to do him.

Yeah true Marlo had more intelligence than Avon but Marlo is just a lil to full of himself The streets is his habit one that he just won't be able to shake They were calling him while in the middle of securing his future and he just couldn't resist he answered the call He's the type that think he can't be touched

?:| I'm not very happy with the ending it left too many loose ends for me. Damn why Dukie had to go out like that why didnt Mike give Dukie some money so he could have somewhere to go Is it left for us to assume that Levy was gonna hook Marlo with all these movers & shakers and actually fit in He appeared to be one lonely black man totally out of his environment

I am gonna miss my favorite show of allll time. Omar shouldn't have went out like that, Marlo should have. Micheal is the Shit. They should have had more to say about Randy. Avon should have got out of jail to reclaim his corner and I'm just glad I got to see Weebay since he's doing life. I hope he gets chris in jail, cause he shouldn't have thought that mike was a snitch. and it's messed up dookie hooked on drugs now but it's nice to know bubbles is clean. maybe we can get a book or a movie

OmarsProtege-

I think Slim Charles would have taken Marlo out if he didn't have the connect. Slim was ready to hit Marlo right before Avon got locked up. However, your right the rest of the co-op was weak.

"I can't see Slim and the other Co-op people allowing Marlo to continue walking the streets for very long. While he's alive he represents a threat to him both as a rival and as a potential witness."

Excuse me? That Co-Op represented a BUSINESS. Those dudes were soft as hell. Marlow called them all bitches multiple times - as did Omar.

If I had a nickel for every time Marlow disrespected those dudes TO THEIR FACES, I would have enough cheese to be called "Wagstaff."

I mean, lemme just drop a little Clay "Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet" on this comment. The Co-Op take down Marlow? SHeeeeeeeeeeeeet. The Co-Op was a bunch of softies. At NO point - even after Marlow told them he was responsible for Joe's demise - did the Co-Op try to take out Marlow.

Allowing? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeet. Marlow allows THEM to walk the street, not tht other way around.

And PS - Marlow the baddest drug dealer in this show:
He was more intelligent than Avon. Avon was a dumb thug and didn't CARE about business, which is why he is behind bars.

Guess it's all over. So sad that Dukie had to go out like that. What, Michael couldn't throw him some ends? Anyway my fix is this; I work 4 to 12 and miss some much (little?) network programming that I will attempt to get off my THE WIRE fix by starting from day one with HOMICIDE Life on the Street. I ordered the box set and await it like a re-up! I hope that HBO has the sense to see that they have a winner and should continue this in a prequel series form. Same for the Sopranos. If ya really have gold then mine it! Not for the sake of dollars but for the quality contained therein. The other series they have presented us with since both of these series has been weak.
I gotta say...
Peace..
Indeed.

The wire went out very well. All the pieces really did come together. Best part of the last episode was when Slim Charles took out Cheese. That was long over due, it should have been done in season three.

A couple of thoughts:
1) Marlo getting jumped on the street was a cold reminder that when your out the game your forgotten. He got everything Stringer Bell wanted but he just doesn't have the skills Stringer did. He ran the co-op and used it to get into legitimate business (sort of). He's just built for the street, but not the board room.

2) The way Mike became like Omar and Dukie became like Bubbles was kind of a surprise. However, looking back the writers had to be going there all along. Brilliant character development.

3) With Slim Charles getting the connect things came full circle. Someone from the Barksdale crew is back in charge. Loyalty goes a long way apparently.

4) I like the way that Freamon and McNulty went out. They could have stayed on, but why? S$*t was never going to change. Which is why Daniels left too.

RIP Omar, Stringer Bell, the whole damn show.

-THE END

Rather Then Posting a bunch of threads about a season 6 What ABOUT A New Prison show w Webey or avon or sumthing like that??? I think that would be a great IDEA. Maybe if David Simon and Ed Burns could get together with The guy who created "OZ" and research where OZ went wrong, I think it could really work. OZ was so Ridiculous after season 3-4 but now with all the msnbc doc's covering stories on jails and life in prison for people who are serving life w o the possibility of parole(like Chris Partlow), their is a big market out their for shows like the wire and oz and homicide and the shield etc. Seriously the baby boomers are dying out and generation y' s idea of an oscar worthy performance has to be violent drug and thriller related(no country for old men) and the tv series we demand have to be drug, mafia, living the high life related(The Sopranos, The Wire, WEEDS etc). If HBO doesnt want to fall behind in the race to stay current and up to date with the pop-culture trends then they will lose big. Just look how many people are posting how they are going to stop watching HBO now or quit HBO subscript bc their shows are over after only 5 seasons. Anyways, PROPs to the best show ever made and I just want to let the creators and crew behind the series know that their will always be a fan here of any work you do in the future....or shall i say ART!!!!!!!!

I have to feel like Marlo was returning to the streets just for a taste, because he couldn't bear to leave, and would struggle with it. But I don't think he was just going to "return" to it, and the game. I think we were mostly being shown that it was, and always will be, in his blood, no matter how well tailored his suit.

What an actor that Jamie Hector is, by the way. His prison scene in episode 59 is one of the all time greats on TV.

To the fellow mentioning great TV show finale let downs...don't forget "Seinfeld"!
