The fifth and final season of THE WIRE centers on the media's role in addressing - or failing to address - the fundamental political, economic and social realities depicted over the course of the series, while also resolving storylines of the numerous characters woven throughout the narrative arc of the show. Don't miss the Season 5 Premiere January 6!

Well I have much love for Baltimore because my Nanna's dad was a BIG Methodist Minister in MD. So she and all her 10 siblings have roots in Bmore(why yall think I love Omar so much, he play that old school flava). So we have roots in Bmore and many of the neighbors(who are no longer here) of my village all come from bmore and VA. U cannot get that back, the way in which our neighborhoods came together..I am grateful everyday. Amarie its not even gentrification anymore, they want to be New York..while I love it, I would never want to live there..to crowded. Philly, Bmore, Cleveland, Dayton use to have the camaraderie..It hurts my heart to see good hard working people standing outside begging drunk college kids to turn down their music at 3 in the morning. I have no pity when they are robbed, because they are not wanted. Standing on the corner smoking and selling drugs, its ridiculous. They already killed one of those perp on Susquehanna, because someone forgot to tell that fool the rules of the game. I just hope if you know anyone with houses in the area, keep them..don't sell out. It is nothing like knowing your neighbors. Temple has done nothing for North Philly but destroy it, and if we had the type of community leaders we have in years past, they would have never have gone past 15th street. I saw Nutters myspace page and it states his favorite show is The Wire..so I had to add him as a friend. I think he has a little Carcetti in him, he just need to watch out for those female aids...can't work for my husband unless you 60..Sheiiitttttt! -- They Moving the Hood Out! -GOD is in the Detail's- There's a B in Subtle! Dlyfe, What it do Homie, Yeah see how Lester pulled that strippa chick, yeah he is def a Great Debater, ha ha.... Man I am on the low right now..coming off that High...I do not have on demand but last night I was livin it up, now I am dragging... U know what it is, I am just very disappointed in my peeps from North Philly. That speech that Ice Cube Gave about the "Character of the Neighborhood being lost" in Barbershop hit home for me, they are Movin people our the neighborhoods, the same people who took care and built them up ...which does not mean that they will get better, I am sorry but undergraduate need to be on campus not in the community. Temple is horrible, and they build lillywhite establishment in an urban environment then turn their nose down at the children when they come in, its disgusting and sad. That use to be a Great Neighborhood, where even those functioning coke addicts looked out for children. Things done changed...Not for the better... -- They Moving the Hood Out! -GOD is in the Detail's- There's a B in Subtle! Loyalty Before Dishonor

as was O'Malley which is where Simon is borrowing from reality...O'Malley refused the staes help since he knew he couldn't go to Erlich for help and gave the schools 50 mil from the city coffers...best part is the money is shown as being paid back on the schools books but the city has no record of receiving it...the story just goes away -- Edited by WireHappy at 01/07/2008 1:22 PM

A little off topic... My predictions... Marlo will die by mid-season. I'm not sure who is going to kill him. Dukie is gonna get caught up and die... just because it will be a tear jerker. Omar will make a come back. Avon is going to play a part in Marlo's death... that's obvious. Michael is going to jail. McNulty is going to pull some tricks like he did last season and do some real investigating again. Herc is going to get involved in the wrong scam with that lawyer... he's too close to the fire. Just my thoughts. -- "I went out there to take care of Chrissie's business" - Tony S.

PhillyPhd, I agree with everything that you said. It's amazing how Baltimore parallels Philly to a T: from the police department, to the shitty newspaper, to the corruption to the street, and to the schools. They are taking this gentrification thing to far in our city. And someone posted that The Wire was Nutter's favorite show. Let's see if he will be our real-life version of Carcetti...or not.

Request to have additional material available to the fans.

I write these to urge fellow fans to partition HBO to add the supplementary videos "The Wire: 4 Real" and "The Wire Season 4: It's All Connected" added to the Season 4 DVD collection. Here is what I emailed: 'I can't believe that HBO has THE WIRE SEASON FOUR on sale without the "The Wire: 4 Real" and "The Wire Season 4: It's All Connected" as a part of the DVD package. I think who ever makes these types of marketing decisions should consider having these video clips as apart of the DVD collection. Powerful stuff relating to the season and the show as a whole is in these videos.' Join me in asking that HBO make available as much of this ground breaking show as possible available for those of us who will enjoy it and its message for years to come.

I have been an avid fan of The Wire since season 1. I have been able to understand the inner workings because I watch all episodes with the Closed Captioning...Even with the minor mistakes that captions bring, for the most part, it has deepened my understanding, and I am not what you would call "slow" Just a suggestion...

Oh Yeah, Mr. Mayor if your reading this... Shout out to Street for moving the hood out of North Philly, and destroying its character(ala Barbershop). All those people selling their homes for 80-250 grand that will be worth about 700 by the time they are done....I told you so..Look at West Philly...Temple will never be University of Penn. Go support your grandmoms, and take your streets back. Oh if Marcus, Malcolm and the Panthers could see Columbia Ave aka Cecil Bmore now...shoot if Cecil B could see it ...Shame shame...Keep your houses and make your council people work. NAACP on the corner sitting on they A$$! North Philly, Things than Changed also if you have a house in the empowerment zone, or near a university keep that $hit! Be your own landlords, keep a family home, don't sell you soul for penny candy! Hey Shy, This being 2007 n all, should Bubbles be a former piper, a crackhead, a heroin addict..me and my peeps been recycling some of our 80's lingo lately. But honestly, I am happy that someone is looking out for Reginald...loosing Rashad changed him... My boy Duk been drinking milk, by Kenard still small and bad. I look forward to Duk's progression, but worry about what will happen if he becomes corrupted by that B more flava... Damn, did you see that, I just saw Avon/ DAMN DAMN DAMN James ...I miss Stringa Say it with me OMAR -- Loyalty & Honor If you do not have that, than you are not a true friend.

Since Budget cuts hit the police hard and may continue i believe that's when avon and marlo is gonna have a turf war. When the police don't give a fuck any more because they are not getting paid.
