May have also appeared in various seasons and episdoes of Law & Order.
The reasons for this is merely that this particular crop of actors are New York Based....rather than LA/Hollywood.
Both the Wire and Homicide are set in Baltimore and shot on location as L & O is shot in NYC.

Cheers for that JakeNDaBox. Only started watching this series on DVD and I'm up to Season 3.
I loved H:LOTS until Pemleton left the series.

For the record, I thought that Gharty and Ballard (Peter Gerety and Callie Thorne) helped bring what to that point had been the best show on TV, to an absolute screeching halt. I hated just about any episode that spent more than 10 minutes on either of their characters.
OK, moving on...
The most obvious is Clark Johnson, who played Gus Haynes in S5 of the Wire, but who is much better known for his turn as Meldrick Lewis on Homicide. I think he was on all but one or maybe two episodes.
Dude who played Odell Watkins on the Wire was a homicide detective on Homicide. He was basically a background actor, was in a ton of episodes, though I don't recall him having a single line of dialogue.
Michael Willis played Krawczyk (crooked developer) on the Wire and defense attorney Daren Russom on Homicide.
There were also several cats who were one and done on Homicide and resurfaced for regular roles on The Wire
Carcetti (serial killer, S6), Sydnor (I think S7, in ep when white bus driver got killed, believed to be racially motivated)
Norman (drug dealer accidentally busted in case of mistaken identity by Pembleton and Bayliss, S6)
State's Attorney Bond (involved with his sister - a dirty cop - in a restaurant murder of a Korean family "Saigon Rose" ep - S6)
Bodie (S7, forget the ep, played a street kid),
