The police brass changes, McNulty and Freamon look for bodies, Prop Joe pays his last respects. "Buyers market out there" - Templeton --------------------------------------------------------------------- This episode was pretty slow overall. I think it was slow because there was very little street action going on. Here are my thoughts: 1) The opening scene it so funny - kinda like Episode 51 where Bunk tells the murder suspect the copy machine was a lie detector. Basically the police see Kenard hide the re-up and bust the boys. When the police puts his hand in the bag to get the drugs out it turns out the bag has a bunch of dog shit in it. This throws Coliccio (spelling?) into a rage and he ends up being too physical with the teacher in the car who is trying to get by the scene, 2) Prop Joe makes Butchie's funeral arrangements and says he respects him, 3) Marlo meets with the Greeks and they allude that if Prop Joe was gone they would deal with Marlo, 4) Templeton interviews with the Washington Post but doesn't get the job, 5) It comes out that the information that Burrells has on Daniels has to do with some missing drug money from when Daniels was in the Eastern Division, 6) The guy shot in the leg last episode was not the same guy that protected Omar in jail last year, 7) Marlo is okay and satisfied that his money in the bank. Prop Joe takes him to his own attorney to give Marlo some advice on how to invest it. A funny exchange happens because Herc is in the attorney's office hanging out and Marlo asks him if the camera ever turned up from last season, 8) Omar was gonna kill Slim Charles but believes him when he says it was not Prop Joe that set up Butchie. So Omar spars Slim Charles' life and decides to go after Marlo's crew. He points our a lieutenant in Marlo's crew but I could not make him out. It may have been Michael, 9) Marlo and Chris and Snoop give Hungry Man to Cheese to kill because Hungry Man got mad at Cheese in the Co-Op meeting and embarassed him, 10) Beadie now distrusts McNulty and thinks he is back to his old ways, 11) Prop Joe was about to leave out of town to hide from Omar. But Cheese set him up and Marlo had Chris kill him in his own home. Martin -- *Nationwide*

If Omar goes and Marlo ends up on top at the end of this show's existence, I will be horribly depressed. But, I am happy Marlo is starting to do something. He's bored me to death since his introduction into the show until EP 54. Omar is faced with a big challenge.

Except Cheeze isn't that young - like Method Man, he's got to be in his 30s somewhere, and probably chafing at seeing young bucks like Marlo rising up while he answers to Prop Joe forever.

There's no way ANY city would let a mass-murderer like Marlo walk the streets with impunity. A real life Marlo would be gone, and if the law can't catch him dirty, believe me they'll make him dirty and throw his ass away in the system. In real life niggas like Joe survive and niggas like Marlo fall real quick-like. If the system finds 22 bodies on him, the system is coming for that ass, and it ain't going to rest until it snatches you from the streets. Well, it took me awhile to absorb Joe getting killed. At first I thought it was really bad writing but the more I thought about the past episodes, it made sense that Joe got killed. How many times did Marlo go to Vondas and then Vondas coming back with "Joe this" or "It goes through Joe"? If it was me and I kept hearing that I couldn't get what I wanted because of one person, I wouldn't kill them or anything, but if I really wanted it, I would find a way to go around them. It was a great swerve too, how they gave Cheese a "gift for a gift". I thought they were giving him hungry man because of Butchie (yeah yeah yeah I know, they already gave Cheese money though for that) but of course, you really didn't know what the gift was until the end of the episode... By the way, didn't you guys think that that the bank teller that spoke french was fly? Makes me want to take a trip to whatever place Marlo went to and cash a check....

Clay Davis I think will slime his way out of this. I don't think he will kill himself, it may make him pause a minute but he'll leave office, but he show up somewhere else.

I knew Joe wouldn't turn on Cheese... but Cheese turning on Joe did kind of throw me off. He was always proper to Uncle Joe in the sense that Cheese would open his mouth and Joe would always shut it back down - maybe that was the motivation behind Cheese's ultimate disgrace? Marlo and Cheese got it coming to them... it may take all season to drop Marlo but I give Cheese another episode or two before he falls. Selling out your own blood doesn't play well with anyone.... especially fools that kill over gossip that you called them a coksucker! The preview to 55 was a great tease! Clay Davis and Royce holding hands??? Sheeiiiiiiit! Something smells! Omar and Snoop blasting! At each other or someone else? Either way someone's falling next episode cuz Snoop and Omar don't miss - my money is on Monk or Cheese. Dukie's eye got tagged and now he's blastin with Mike? Maybe he went to Cutty for some boxing help and Mike said F' that - here's a 45! We'll see... I hope I'm totally wrong and shocked again like with ep 54!!

You gave up your uncle. You think Marlo gonna think Cheese is loyal to him. I wouldn't be surprised if Cheese dies within the next two episodes. side note. Ain't Slim Charles one of the coolest dudes inthis show. By the way. I think the lieutenant Omar was scoping was Monk so he might get got next episode. -- Edited by lukeblaze at 01/22/2008 8:12 AM

It looks like Cheese could lead to Marlo's downfall, unless Marlo has him killed over the next couple episodes. It's clear Cheese is not loyal (see Prop Joe), and there are rumors (as discussed by Slim Charles and Prop Joe) that Cheese tipped Marlo on Butchie's whereabouts. No doubt Omar will hear the same rumors, and Slim Charles may even get word to Omar directly now the Prop Joe is dead. If Omar finds Cheese, Cheese will pull a Randy Wagstaff and spill his guts. He's shown that he's not big on loyalty. With all this in mind, I would not be surprised if Marlo takes care of Cheese sooner rather than later.

It'll be interesting to see what makes Michael say "Fuc it- I'm a Monster!" because he's gonna have to embrace that side of his personality 100% if he's gonna be taking someone under his wing. Right now, people are thinking that he is too 60/40 about being a cold-blooded assassin (60% fun-loving, moral-bound teenager, 40% assigned killer). Personally, I think he has the right number of screws loose right now to allow him to wake-up one morning and be on some Snoop shit. But I still think that some specific event is going to set him off.. -Perhaps getting scared to death by Omar gunning for Marlo and crew..
