"They don't teach it in law school." -- Pearlman An unexpected call puts Templeton and the paper back in the spotlight - and gets McNulty unwanted extra attention. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are my observations on this episode: 1) Lester and McNulty make a false phone call from the serial killer to Templeton. McNulty acts like the serial killer is angry that Templeton wrote about the biting being sexual and offered to go to the paper and bite Templeton. I found this pretty funny, 2) When interviewed about the call later in the episode Templeton looked pretty shook up about the call, 3) Omar robbed another stash house and killed Manny. He flushed four kilos of raw down the toilet to prove it was not about robbery but it was about fucking with Marlo's operations, 4) Carcetti raised $92K for his upcoming run at Governor in one morning. This shows Carcetti is becoming more adept at raising money and is serious about running for Governor, 5) Spider fucked with Dookie and Michael told him to "step off", 6) Carcetti made another promise to make all police support needed to break the serial killer case - and McNulty doesn't want all the extra police involved because he and Lester might get caught working Marlo's case, 7) Bunk is getting madder and madder at McNulty's fake serial killer case pulling other police off of their real cases, 8) While interviewing Michael Bunk mentions that Bug's dad did "heinous" things to Michael in the past. I think this answers the question of why Michael hates Bug's dad - I think Bug's dad molested Michael, 9) Davis' driver testified against him during Davis' trial. But Davis still beat the case and said that he moved money from the non-profit accounts to his personal accounts so that he could help the community's needs - funeral expenses, coats for the kids, etc. That Clay Davis is one slick mo-fo!!! 10) Lester caught the pictures from Marlo to the Greek and it is pictures of a clock at different times. They don't know the code but I think Lester will crack it next episode, 11) McNulty advised Greggs to buy children?s furniture at IKEA. Greggs got mad at McNulty because he did not tell her how difficult it is to assemble that furniture. I thought this was funny because everyone I know has trouble assembling IKEA furniture, 12) Richard Belzer who plays Detective Munch on the show Law and Order Special Victims Unit makes a cool little cameo in this episode, 13) Omar runs up on Savino as he is leaving a club and shoots him in the head even though Savino didn't kill Butchie. But Omar killed him anyways because as Marlo's muscle it could have been Savino to kill Butchie, 14) Omar walked up on Michael and his crew on the corner and told Michael to tell Marlo that Marlo is a punk for not coming to the streets to meet Omar face to face, 15) Gus is on to Templeton's lies - I think Gus will expose Templeton very soon. 16) The previews for next episode look amazing!! mrod -- *Nationwide*

It was a great episode to me. MRod, of course your summaries are always cool. Let me just add a few observations so I don't repeat what is already said: Its funny how McNulty can try and fake a B-more accent but is messing up with the American accent this season. Templeton is going downnnnnnnnnnnnn, especially after watching the previews for next ep. McNulty is crazy acting like a priest, "Go with God." It's like he has the authority now to hook up all the other homicide detectives after helping out the rookie. Clay's lawyer from the link posted is indeed playing himself lol. I see Clay had to get him in order to get off. And Clay sure did use his silver tongue for the jurors as requested by the lawyer. That's the real world, some get off for doing the actual crime and those that don't do the crime are usually screwed and sent to jail. I remember when McNulty was putting together bunk beds for his sons in Season 1, same as Gregg's. Both had major difficulties but McNulty finally put it together. I see that Kima is doing a better job as being a parent. Hope her skills in her communication with the kid can help her talk to the witness from Junebug's murder. Gus makes a comment about pissing purple, just like Bunk did last ep, lol. A Bubbles sighting...interesting that he didn't accept the money from Fletcher. Similar to Omar's, "it ain't about the money." Cutbacks are going to really go crazy if this homeless serial killer case doesn't end. Spyder: "My record so long, I'm about to put out an album." And Kima's goodnight dialogue at the end is pretty much saying goodnight to The Wire in general. -- "Let me help you find your tongue."

Do any of you remember the late actor, Woody Strode? Lance Reddick ( Daniels ) bares a remarkable resemblance to Strode.I wonder if they are related? -Puma

Kenard is not significant to me. He's getting lots of play around here in light of the recent round of spoilers, whether they're true or not. So far, all I've seen him do is run his mouth, work the corner, and get beat down by Mike and Dukie. As of today, the kid is all bark and cusses a lot. Until he gets bigger or picks up a gun, he's just another foul mouthed kid on the corner in my eyes. Kenards come a dime a dozen. He may in fact turn into a force, but as of today he's merely a tadpole.

The Newspaper, although is important is taking too much of the airtime that I am getting sick of that storyline.. McNulty and his murders and really getting stupid... all the while Bunk is working a REAL case. I cant stand how stuff was twisted in this episode. Omar is slipping and its about time, he is emotional as hell, for the first time he starred death in the face ( at Monk's Condo) and he was scared. But his limping behind is gonna get got on the streets AND its about time, HE is too OLD to be gangbanging on the streets anyway!! At his age he should have muscle doing stuff for him --- Remember he went to school with BUNK. So some young kid with no code will get him and the spoilers say that its gonna be Kennard. Now thats one scary child -- straight-up souless.... I wished they gave us a little background on him in Season 4 .... the did a good job with Michael, Randy, Dukie and Namond... but apart from Michael, the others are not as important to the current storyline as Kennard.... I wanna see where that child lays his head at night after spewing pure evil all day long at the corner. Oh and CLAY DAVIS he is a master spinner and he was indeed judged by a jury of his peers!! Some narrow minded ignorant people that bought the crap that one does not paperwork when he is managing public funds.... Bond with his IVY league looking behind got schooled bigtime!! I could not believe it. And the dude playing Clay is an amazing actor.... Hollywood has no excuse when they say they cant find good black actors --- the WIRE is full of them. Kennard is and can be better than that little miss sunshine kid -- even better than Will Smith's son. I hope bigger doors open for Kennard. -- Edited by EmmaRidpath at 02/11/2008 11:19 AM

Maybe the last episode might be a little longer, like last season, that is highly possible

Good episode, its laying up well for the end. Though i agree, its going to need some pretty tight writing to wrap this up in 3 episodes. I am still not convinced by the serial killer bullshit and Lester's involvement (I can't see how they won't get caught in real life) but at least it is getting more watchable.

Templeton completely made up the call to the paper, even going to the payphone to call his own cell phone. McNulty took his bullshit and ran with it, hence this circus that is now going on. The Clay Davis courtroom scenes were some of the most comical to ever appear on this show. Isiah Whitlock got some serious skills as an actor. I think he even snuck a "shiiiiit" onto the stand. I was rollin. I thought his defense attorney was based on Billy Martin, the badass Virginia defense attorney that recently represented Mike Vick. But if the guy is actually an attorney, maybe he was based on himself. I don't know about everyone else, but I've really enjoyed watching Omar wreak havoc on Marlo's crew. I've always felt that Marlo is a punk deep-down. Always sending Chris, Snoop and his other soldiers to do his dirt. Never man enough to do it himself. I realize kingpins don't have to do shit but give orders. But Avon had the hand grenades and was ready to go wreck shop. Marlo just gives orders and hides. Now Omar is rightfully exposing him as a bitch. Must say I felt some satisfaction when he blew Savino's brains all over that wall. I'm waiting for the gangstas on the street who have to deal with Omar to start resenting the fact that Marlo is straight hiding, possibly causing them to give him up. Don't know if this will happen, but it'd be nice. I have already accepted that Omar will not make it through all this, so every scene he's in, I try to enjoy. I'm thinking McNulty is gonna do a favor for Bunk by getting his lab work processed. Via DNA left at the scene, Bunk is gonna get Chris off the street, dealing another blow to Marlo's crumbling empire (at least starting to crumble). By way of Omar's gun or crazy ass Lester and McNulty, it feels like Marlo's fall is right around the corner.
