Episode 59: Late Editions (WARNING: SPOILERS!!)

Freamon's hard work pays off with a promising lead, though McNulty isn't in the mood to celebrate.

"Deserve ain't got nothin' to do with it." Snoop

1) Snoop takes O-Dog to Levy's office to take the gun charge from last year. He doesn't want to take the charge but does at the behest of Snoop,

2) Chris checks the re-supply, not just a re-up, and it is 120 kilos of heroin. The police follow him to the spot based on pictures from Marlo to Chris and the rest of the crew,

3) Steintorf tells Rawls and Daniels that the Mayor needs a 10% decrease in crime stats - basically telling them they need to go back to the old days of juking stats,

4) Lester tells Daniels that they are ready to arrest Marlo and his crew - this is music to Daniel's ears because they need a big arrest to make Carcetti and the department look good,

5) The re-supply is busted and Monk is caught with 8 kilos and Cheese is busted with some heroin also and Chris is arrested by Bunk on the murder warrant. Marlo is arrested by Lester,

6) Snoop and O-Dog go to Michael's house to watch the Mayor's announcement of the drug bust,

7) Alma asks Daniels for a quote and he refuses to give a detailed quote because Templeton mis-quoted him last year - this will come back later to haunt Templeton,

8) Monk, Cheese, Chris and Marlo are all in jail talking about their cases. During this talk Monk mentions that Omar was calling out Marlo's name and Marlo gets mad that his name was out in the streets. He is mad at Chris for not telling him that Omar was calling him out. Chris thought Marlo didn't need to know about Omar calling him out,

9) During these talks they notice that Snoop and Michael are not arrested. Marlo asks Chris if he thinks Michael is a snith and they both don't think he is - but they won't bet their future on it so they get Snoop to kill Michael, (more on this later)

10) Jay gets mad at McNulty because the serial killer is still not solved with all the man power given to the case,

11) Michael tells someone that the police are looking for Kenard and that person says some Pemlaco (sp?) boys ran up on Omar with 3 AKs (obviously this is a rumor),

12) Namond is participating in a debate for the Urban Debate League and looks to be doing well - although he has gained a lot of weight since last season LOL,

13) Gus has a meal with Narece and is told that Daniels didn't stab Burrell in the back like Templeton's quote said so last year,

14) Herc is partying with the police and shares insider information with Levy about the police department (no money, a lot of overtime on the serial killer case, a possible wire tap from Lester),

15) Bubs is still doing well. He has his one year sober anniversary. He finally talked about grieving for Sherrod,

16) Davis meets Lester in a bar and tells him that the attorneys are very dirty - in fact Levy is one of the worst and that Levy has a leak in the courthouse,

17) Gus went to a rehab center to verify the war veteran's story from Templeton -- it turns out the rehabbing vet also confirms the other vet is not a liar and that Templeton probably lied,

18) Kima asked Carver how he felt about reporting Callicio because she is going to tell Daniels about McNulty's illegal wiretap. Later in the episode she did tell Daniels,

19) Bubs real name is Reginald,

20) Snoop picked up Michael to go kill someone else but Michael killed Snoop instead because he knew she was there to kill him. He asked her why and she told him that he was always asking questions and that he was never part of their crew and that Marlo thought he may be the snitch. Afterward Michael shot her in the head and walked off,

21) Michael went home and picked up Bug and Dookie. He dropped Bug off at his aunt's house in the suburbs and dropped off Dookie in the junk yard. He has to distance himself from them since he killed Snoop. This was so sad,

22) Lastly, Omar was not even mentioned in this episode. He is dead and gone so please people, let him go.

Finale Notes:

1) Rawls knows the story and gets mad at McNulty,
2) Dookie looks like he is on drugs,
3) Templeton looks like he got caught in his lies,
4) Marlo is out on the street and swings on someone on the corner,
5) Cheese kills Rick.

Emma,
You want McNulty to kill himself? That would be the best thing for him and his two sons. I'm sorry but that is dumb as hell. Why don't you wish Marlo would kill himself if you have to wish for people to commit suicide.

This episode did a number on me---- to sum it all up "ITS ALL COMING TOGETHER"... and this displays the brilliance of Simon and Burns --- nothing is wasted absolutely nothing is wasted even the Stringer Bell - Clay Davis - Season 3 relationship (its all comes together!!!)..... Brilliant writing, am glad David Simon does not take his fanbase for fools - hence he does not dummy stuff down --- he makes it as complicated as it really is and its not being tied in neat bow..... Here is what impressed me about it:

* I am glad its a hollow victory for McNulty, he had good intentions, he achieved what he meant to get at but life is not that clear about its HEROs - I hope spoilers saying that he will kill himself are correct because he is all funky and in chasing what he wanted he has lost a whole lot.

* Kima had to go and tell, there is a thin line between snitching and watching crime being committed when you took an oath to prevent crime. Someone had to help bring an end to the homeless killer charade.

* the biggest irony of all is how things have turned out for the Season 4 kids --- oh! what a bleeding mess!! Now as a woman and as a mother --- i really wished that part of the storyline had a Hollywood ending --- Michael, Duquan, Namond and Randy ARE CHILDREN --- they did not negotiate the circumstances of their birth and it breaks my heart that the chips are falling where there are. The separation of Mike and Bugs broke my heart (you never know what Bugs will be subjected to in that new household - the suburbs dont necessarily mean a good upbringing). The fact that Duquan had LITERARY nowhere but to that junkie commune just tore me apart --- the strength and resiliance of Michael in sorting the mess out is brilliant. He had to do what he had to do.

The arrests were made --- Marlo being got as well as the GREEK just shows indeed that "MARLO IS NOT JOE.".... to run the game at that level requires some level of sophistication not just brutality - Joe had that, he did not own any corners, was not involved in street level warfare - hence a good wholesale connection for the GREEK --- while Marlo was too street to deal with a high level supplier such as the GREEK and their dealing with him did their operation in.............

I could say more - which is a reflection on a well written, researched, relevant, and acted piece of work called THE WIRE...........

The Wire....the reality of getting killed....murdered....
unlike reg. movies, or tv drama....The Wire displays murder in its rawest form....INSTANT....aint no shaking and gasping for air!! No dramatic last dialogue, no one dying in their heroe's arms and the long "NOOOOOO" yell before the path for vengence is taken!! Just "BLOOWWW"...heads hit pavement and brains on walls....luv dat shit!!
Snoop sounded so sincere when she was talking to Mike...she knew death was coming....nothing but brains, braids, blood, and glass on the pavement.

I saw a few comments that mentioned Mike's mom's body...if that was during the previews...that wasnt her...I paused it (took me forever) but that was a old man with a beard!! Those previews really throw you into think other things because they put different voice segments over the scene that dont match...that aint Mike Marlo steals on...although some would believe that to be the answer...but smart as mike is....think he hanging out on a corner with a gun waiting on Marlo in a business suit...hell no....for one...he's too smart for that....two...Mike would whupp Marlo skinny ass...Mike like to box....memba?he got a natural right hand, the way he throw and the way he lands it....

anyone know what ep. Kima sucking dem titties? I need to go back and watch that one....maybe I'll start liking that ratting bitch again....nobody likes a tattle tale!!

People have brought up the fact that in Season 3 Rawls is spotted in a gay bar. I think the closest we will come to them shining any light on that already happened in Episode 58 when McNulty was rapping with all the top Police guys and Carcetti, and Rawls said "I'm into some kinky shit from time to time, but biting the leg of a homeless fella...."

99% of homosexual men were molested...fact.
Almost all molestors were molested too...fact.
I definitely think mike is probably going to start hooking up with Cutty and then maybe Kenard. >>

That is just ignorant. Studies show molestors don't have any particular sexual orientation as they don't have the capacity to develop a relationship with any adult.

Most gay men weren't molested- silliness.

The one thing that has been proven with scientific certainty is that molested women have a tendency to be more promiscuous-with men...associating sex with approval and what not.

Mike is going to hook up with Kennard and Cutty..yea, ok.

Cheese gonna get out on parole.

Monk and Chris aint goin no where I dont think.

Marlo gonna walk, the conspiracy charge hinges on the illegal wire tap shit coming out. Levy might be able to muster up a bail for Marlo tho, he did for Avon.

Detective Polk - he was in season one, but only lasted one episode longer than his partner Mahone. He briefly appeared in S2 as part of the hack squad Burrell assigned to Major Crimes before Valchack demanded real police.

yeah that was Polk the one who tried to throw himself down the stairs in season 1.....that is why Daniels said knowing about the politics of staffing I am going to let McNulty pick his own ppl.....the first detail he was stuck with the leftovers people did not want and drunk Polk was one of them
