I'm in the midst of a serious tragedy. I don't have HBO, so I've had to watch The Wire on DVD when the first four seasons were released. I've probably watched each episode at least 50 times, and I think I set some sort of record when I watched all of Season 2 on a single Sunday about a year ago (when I first obtained the box set). At any rate, my sister (according to her) religiously recorded each episode of Season 5 on DVR, and I travelled 1500 miles from Dallas to Montana on Monday so that we could watch it together on DVR. As we started our marathon last night, we quickly realized something was wrong. Somehow, despite being "protected," all the episodes were mislabeled (the season supposedly began with Episode 55 on 1/6 according to the HBO tag on the DVR recording), there were two recordings of the third episode and the final episode had been erased. I have no idea if HBO can do something like this remotely, coming backward through the box, or if my sister just fucked up. If she did, I have no idea how to explain the bizarre labeling of each episode, given that it is imprinted on the recording by the DVR. I was so depressed today I was almost wishing for a visit from Chris and Snoop. I remember when I was trying to follow the season on-line that many forum members had watched Episode 60 before it was released "On Demand" and were leaking spoilers. I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone help save my vacation my telling me how to link to an on-line version of #60? Sorry if this post seems inappropriate and rambling, but I'm desperate to the point of incoherence.
