"The Wire" Going to College

The following was on HBO's "The Buzz" today:

'The Wire' has always been a great way to earn a Ph.D. in street science, but now watching the series can actually count toward credit at Harvard. The school hosted a panel with actors from the show and announced a course that will use 'The Wire' as a case study for poverty in America. Michael K. Williams, who played Omar on the show, told the crowd what brought him to the table: "Everything we're doing to make the world a better place is really for our kids. Our kids are dying in huge numbers. It's the real 'Wire.'" Sonja Sohn (Det. Kima Greggs) had a more direct message to deliver. "Become a part of these communities. These circumstances will not change if you do nothing," she said. "Get it moving. Get it popping. Get up off your butt and do something."
