For the most part, SimCo was tight with the details. If something didn't immediately make sense, it would eventually re-surface somewhere down the line. But nobody's perfect, and The Wire had its share of stuff that simply didn't make sense. Something to get everyone started, then let's see what you got: - Chris/Snoop and the "Baltimore" question schtick. Chris and Snoop were discussing how to decipher who was from NY and who was from B-More. Chris decided that those in question had to either correctly answer a Baltimore question, or else get got. However, by his own logic, Snoop woulda been capped midway through S4 rather than toward the end of S5. She not only didn't know any of the shit Chris was talking about, but couldn't even answer her own question. - Little Kevin being found by cops. In a city with over 15,000 vacants, patrol was instructed to ONLY search doors with screws matching the nail guns. However, Little Kevin was killed AFTER Chris dumped the nail gun in the river. The only feasible explanation is that they bought another - but that wouldn't explain the subsequent car search (when Kima found the gun in the secret compartment) otherwise coming up empty. But before all that... - Slim insisting Chris and Snoop walked Little Kevin down an alley. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. But if they did, Slim didn't see it happen - when he walked up, it was Monk and a few others stuffing Kevin in the back of a ride. Chris and Snoop were still with Marlo, with all sitting down w/ Slim to talk shop in the park while Kevin was escorted out and never seen again. So whatcha got? -- Edited by JakeNDaBox at 03/24/2008 12:24 PM PDT

I think that the conversation about music was for comedic effect and so show how crazy Snoop and Chris really are. I found not only their method of inquiry hilarious (shakin it, giggle it), but also the fact that they did not even decide what to ask until they had gotten out of the vehicle walking towards somebody. So just some dark humor along with showing how little Chris and Snoop valued human life. -- --------------------------------------------------------------- "On this day, when we go to exercise our blessed franchise" "And we will be brief with all of you motherfuckers. I think you know." "His sister, his mi-mah, some fag he be with... all that shit count, ya heard me?"

If you're not trying to cop, just move on. It's the same over there. The scene itself is a lot calmer and a lot safer. The only place I got approached was in the main Red Light, and that area is extremely safe.

They pulled up those hoppers and told them that the free zone was their Amsterdam. Being unfamiliar with the city, one of the hoppers mispronounced it afterwards. It really was nothing like the real Amsterdam. Ironically I was approached by many corner boys in Amsterdam selling stuff. I think the soft stuff is legal but the harder drugs are not. Didn't really dabble so I'm not sure.

I thought it was funny that Carcetti apologized for the Hamsterdam aftermath without knowing that he'd once again (indirectly) kick Colvin to the curb more than a year later in shutting down the school pilot program.

I suppose because it ended Bunny's career and screwed him out of his pension, and he really was trying to make things better. When Carcetti gets in office, he sees for himself the frustrations in trying to do that. ?? > > P.S. Why did they call it Hampsterdam? I always > figured it was a mispronounciation of Amsterdam. That's right. I think Hampersterdam was Bodie's word.

Question. In ep 59 Carcetti goes up to Colvin to apologize for how the Hampsterdam experiment turned out. Why? I know that Carcetti used it to shame Royce in his bid for Mayor but why did he feel the need to apologize to Colvin? It didn't seem like a personal attack on Colvin, it was just politics. Where they friends? P.S. Why did they call it Hampsterdam? I always figured it was a mispronounciation of Amsterdam.

It's not uncommon for someone to twitch for a bit after getting shot. If folks are speculating that he was trying to throw up a sign, then this takes the prize for most absurd bit of speculation about the show. That's just plain silly.

That scene annoyed me too. It doesn't make sense that CHEESE would accuse Michael. When did Cheese even meet Michael? Cheese controlled the EAST-SIDE. He only joined Marlo's gang recently. Suddenly he knows the names of Marlo's corner kids? It was strange that Cheese was the one who brought up his name. Method Man's death scene was unconvincing. His fingers kept twitching. I've read speculation that he was trying to make the Wu-Tang Clan symbol.
