For an 1.5 hours I watched waiting for something to happen. One would think that this show would go out w/ a bang. But, instead it was horrible. The writing sucked. I am very dissapointed. I think a lot of us wanted to see Marlo get it, but instead he walks. SPEECHLESS!

I think if anything, the one thing that The Wire could have done is have Namond come back and attempt to talk to the corner kids. Being that he ran a corner (not too good obviously) and knows the mindset and mental reach of the kids coming up behind him. It would have definately been more realistic than having a supposedly reformed Marlo going to the corner stirring things up.

I didn't think the finale sucked. It wasn't the most exciting, but I think it held true to the way the show really was, and what it was about. It wasn't about perfect endings and hollywood theatrics. My review of the finale Just my thoughts.

I was somewhat dissapointed by the wire's series finale. I felt it could have had a little more substance and gave fans a little more closure as well. But your posts helped to remind me that the wire is unlike any other show, its based on str8 facts and the hard core truth, and we all know that in the real world there are no fairy tale endings, and sometimes you don't get the closure you need or want. I was hoping that Mike would have got out of the game, in earlier episoides it showed him having a conscience and questioning things, so I figured he would have left all of it, but I forgot he is really young and all he knows is Baltimore. Dukie's ending was sad as well but realistic. I hate to say that I was waiting around for his demise but at least I got one prediction right for the show. Even though he was smart I felt like Mike in a way, was his backbone and encouragement, after Mike left him alone things just went down hill. I Chese was grimy so I didn't feel bad for him. I still love the Wire, and I know that if the endings were sugar-coated the wire would have sold out and became just like some network television show, in this month's issue of GIANT magazine Michael K. Williams said he wanted viewers to walk away from the show with rage and aher in them, and he got just that! Well at least out of me, lol. -- "Omar had one of those commando units; he had this one bi$%h pullin a gun out her pu%^y! The sh%^ was unseemingly".-Cheese "Yall was talkin to gotda&mn much, G' head Nay get ya package off this b^%ch so we could go. -Mike "I don't know about cards, but dese 4 5s be da full house!." -Omar "Ten?!, that's ur Rice-a-Roni Profit".-Mike "Omar like it simple"-Omar "Damn! U didn't even wait for the motherf$%&er to get in the house!" -Snoop

Okay some thought the finale was blah and some thought the finale was excellent....and say those who didn't get it don't understand. Arguing and namecalling aside, it's whatever you make it IMO. What matters is people loved the show. Period. It got them talking and running to their tv sets every Sunday and running to their computers to watch leaked footage. People loved it even if Hollywood didn't give a fuck. The overall series was outstanding. Brilliant, impressive, etc. I'm looking forward to completing my collection with the Season 5 dvds whenever those are released....and I'll have to buy Seasons 1-4 again because those shits are close to being worn out LOL Sad to see the show go but thank you for fuckin with my brain, in a damn good way!! Naw it didn't suck it ended like it was supposed to. McNulty & Larry on the freeway looking over the city and the port and seeing how things are still the same and how some things are changing and McNulty saying to Larry "Let's go home" That wrapped it all up for me with the montage. Couldn't have ended any better. -- "Boy you got me confused with a man repeats himself."

@lionheart27 I don't disagree with the stats. I used to work in those streets. I know the stats are dismal. You know the stats are dismal. We all know it. I think that as a people, African Americans are suffering from the most long-standing, undocumented and severe case of depression in history. 500 plus years of suffering and being constantly reminded of how messed up life is can't be healthy for anyone. So the "keep your eyes on the possibilities" mantra is something that I do out of love. I also do it because it helped me get to where I am in my life. Given where I came from, who my parents were, what my parents did, I should be somewhere with a crackpipe, stripping for a living, or dead. But my reformed drugdealing father, and recovering addict mother, told me there could be more for me-and I was just "green" enough to believe them. And guess what? It worked! So I want to tell other people that they can rise above the bullsh9t out here as well. That's all bro. But trust me. I don't doubt the stats. I say what I say in spite of them. -- Nefertari AKA Choclitpeach

My opinion is... no matter how bad/good we all thought the series finale was..... There has never been a show that has accomplished as much as The Wire did in 5 seasons. The view of these 5 seasons together is better than any show I've ever watched, any movie that I've watched, any song I've heard, any book I've read... It has to be one of the best piece of artistic work of our generation. Personally I was about as happy as a guy could get watching the series finale of my favorite show. I thought it ended things as well as possible and left some great questions to be asked. Thanks to everyone the writers, hbo, and us.

My agony could have been written into a Twilight Zone episode. I really thought it was never going to end. It was so boring I kept dozing off and waking up and it would still be on--I thought it was all a bad dream at times. I mean, Chase gave us some class with his ending. This was pure silliness. Arrgghh! What is happening to HBO? Is it the economy robbing us of good shows or is that HBO thinks they can push this crap on us and we will forever remain devoted fans? For $20 a month I can get a lot of movies from Netflix. Come on HBO, you gotta do better.

Carcetti becoming govenor whatever I didnt like the subline anyway, they should have kept to the drug dealing story line anyway and kept all that other crap out of it anyway. For all of us who are TRUE wire fans and watched it from the beginning this last episode was a real let down. There were so many questions that were not answered. For me the main question I had was what the heck happened to Michael? I know he was supposed to be the new Omar but then what? Was Marlo able to maintain his business man demanor? Or does he go back to the street? These questions will never be answered thanks to the sucky writers of the wire! What a waste of 95 minutes! Kimberli, the show is based in reality. Real things happening in a real city as witnessed by the writer. Like it or not Carcetti ( Mayor OMalley) did actually become governor. Narese ( Sheila Dixon) really does become mayour of Baltimore! No Marlo was not able to maintain his "business man " stature. Didn't you watch? Here is the point, the game goes on. Don't like it? you are not supposed to , it is the reality of life on the streets in Baltimore. If you want a shiney happy cop show, watch network TV! This has a message, one you obviously missed.
