Reminisce I feel that you are proud of where you from but just because I don't know dmv when you speak on it shit I am from the bean and broke as a mo fo so getting to b-more is tough I do want to go just to get a feel for the area although I don't know how smart an idea that is me being white an all cause I want to be in the hood and when your in a hood that is not yours shyt is likely to pop off shit in the bean I am all ovr the place from the bury to mattahpan heath st. but that don't mean shit if and when I do get to b-more. If yall from the area educate us on what its like on slang and so forth just don't condemn us for not knowing your city

laketroutI fux with you....by the way I fiendin for a fish sub like shyt.. mrntgr I fux with you too champ.....and if you really think about it it was more bout BMore then ever... yea the fans relate to a lot of characters you gotta remember 3 things 1 is the creators are from Bmore and wrote it based on the area they worked as cops the poorest major city in th U.S. where even the ports is hurting. 2 very character was based after a Bmore person they knew or had some contact with. 3 No one just puts city names in a hat and picks out what City they want a show to take place...if that was the case most cop/hood movies/shows would not mostly be bout NY/DT/CA/CHI...(I'm waitign on some more about DC/Philly/Bmore/non Major Dirty cities. As well if it wasnt the show really wouldn't have been focusing about bmore it would have taken place in more then just bmore they would have been all over the us... look at New York Under Cover...it was bout NY and it was one of the only show the had cuts showing just the city like The Wire did....another point the went into too great detail to let you know it was bout BMore without even using the subways...Details include...the Docks, Harbor,Six Flags, Laketrouts,teachin real bmore slang and not using the recycled shyt from the entertainment biz movies mostly bout the areas I named above, the lil bmore club music and gogo played in the show, the government/politics part from bmore to pg to Annapolis to dc, the radio stations in bmore, the blocks in bmore (without using subways to mark it they actually filmed in the hood and had to have real good security other movies mention the hoods and flim other place claiming to be that area) and soooo much more. They wanted to bring from the dark to the light issue in bmore from the hood (s1),Docks (s2), Polotics(s3), Schools (s4), News/media(s5)...too many details more then most shows. Remember how Chris and Snoop went looking fo NY drug Dealers...yea very bmore too bmore to jus be fluke the creators used it. Time4daPercol8r word.

There has been some club music playing, and some go-go.

I'm all for stimulating conversation. But don't take it to heart if people aren't into the details about the area. Some people may be interested in knowing more, and that's fine. My only contention is that I don't think that's what The Wire was about. Yes it was set in Baltimore, and yes Baltimore is a complex place with plenty to learn about. The Wire could never come close to getting all those details. We'd be forever and a day looking for things the show could have shown more of. Baltimore is like any other character in the show in that we're not given the whole story and are left hanging on some matters. I'm just saying, it's not a huge negative thing if folks choose to focus on the story and the overall issues the show addressed as opposed to everything else associated with the city. The Wire has been the most authentic depiction of any city on TV that I've ever seen. I've got plenty of love for the area, but it doesn't bug me if folks aren't pressed to know more. As long as they got the overall point, I'm good. Just one man's opinion is all.

I know right. A lot of what i say on here is to stimulate further conversation even at the expense of a little controversy, especially when its about local stuff, hence my name Laketrout, which is really just whiting with a fancy name

mrntgr The folks Iv talked to on here say the love the show so much and its the best show plus make comments like they from out here and say they are interested in the area and culture to see if its true how the show portrayed it.....so why not give em something to comment on.....but they dont have comments for it....bad or good I dont care jus wanna read comments actually see who is actually intrestedin the area for more then the show....thats how a nigga going...if you can view it you can leave comments....sad it takes for me to say wat I say to even get a few comments

I think they gave us a decent dose of club music. Didn't hear any go-go, although the DC hitter mentioned it when he met with Stringer. The show was about Baltimore, so I wasn't expecting any go-go. They did use some go-go in The Corner when the DC boys came by to beef over a corner. I think the show got it right with the music. They stuck with ambient sound, so when we did hear it, it was in the right context. That scene when Bodie starts taking Marlo's package was perfect use of club music. Another good scene was when Bubs found Sherrod working a corner. That said. I don't think folks not being interested in go-go or club music makes them any less interested.
