Now that its over, I hope so. The characters are in place(Marlo, Randy, Mike, Dukie, Bubs, Carter, Kima, Bunk, the game and hell even the city)so time wont matter. All the other players that weve grown to love(Avon, Stringer,Bodie, Omar, Prop Joe, McNulty, Lester) is already gone so that wont be an issue. Some there can be some cameos but that doesnt ahve to be. I think if Sex n The City does well at the box office and if the story is good coming from a series then its a very strong possibility. I know some people will want a Sopranos after that, but Gandofini and Chase will never do it. Its Hollywood which means its always copycatting. When a comedy pops, theres a dozen other, comics pop, theres a dozen others...so when Sex n the city pops(a series) there will be a push for others, namely the Wire. Sex n da City has a very large demographic, females. The Wire has a very small demographic and its a "Black" show so that means bootlegs and possibly not a big box office draw. But im Black and i would buy my ticket right now. So...Sex n The City please do well. "This is Baltimore, no one live forever."

Jaime Hector said in an interview with tom joyner that The Bunk was in the works on bringing The Wire to the big screen. However given that Gus has directed I think that they should work together..that is Action.... -- "That's Just Your Knee!" Let's Go Home -- Edited by PhillyPhD at 03/12/2008 8:15 AM

again, I read if there was to be one, it would be a prequel -- "Yo, yo -- you put it in his ear -- Marlo Stansfield ain't a man for this town."

I don't see them doing a movie. In fact, the way the show ended, a movie based on The Wire would probably draw too many parallels to when they did a movie on Homicide - Pembleton and Bayliss coming out of retirement for that one, McNulty and Lester would seemingly do the same here. Marlo would have to be brought into the fold because quite frankly, I can't see an entire drug storyline centered around Slim and Fat Face Rick. Slim was solid in the role he was utilized in; there doesn't appear to be a lot of depth to Rick. Nor do I want to see Michael go through an entire movie as the new Omar. Or Dukie as the new Bubs. Or Sydnor as the new McNulty, etc.

I sure do hope so!!! It seems like they left it open so they could go either way with it, IMO, they could pick up where the finale left off or do a prequel. -- Peace, sg You gon' let me hold that card! You all on me for? I do my work.

I read somewhere that there will likely be one -- but a prequel. Should be interesting to say the least. -- "Yo, yo -- you put it in his ear -- Marlo Stansfield ain't a man for this town."

As many people have pointed out The Wire was a modern novel brough to TV. As we have seen it is often very hard to adapt great works to film so I doubt Simon and Burns would attempt anything that could possibly tarnish the greatness of The Wire. I guess we will have to settle for a Sopranos movie as that seems like a go as long as Gandolfini agrees.

If they do, all I want to see is the streets and the police! They can make references to the political figures, but I would just want to see the streets and the 50's! Everything else I can accept wit that bullshit final episode
