Now that the Wire is dead, any new HBO shows?

Are there any new HBO shows coming along now that the wire is gone? The last two years have led to the end of Rome, The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood and Extras. John from Cincinnati was terrible even for someone who likes watching obscure shows and I can't find any info on anything that is worthwhile that HBO is making. The upcoming 7 episode miniseries will be good, but why should I keep the network 52 weeks a year for that.

Has anyone heard of anything new coming up? I wish the network would have picked up something like the Black Donnely's. They need more shows.

I can't say that any of HBO's up comming shows really exicite me if someone has seen John Adams could you give me a quick review I like history but I just don't know. Other than that I tried in treatment couldn't get into it a made a real effort to watch Big Love twice it's not a bad show but I don't know if I would keep HBO on it's account

Sorry, I object to the phrase, "Now that the Wire is Dead."

Done, maybe. Dead, hardly. Not a small point.

Upcoming shows? None worthy of the mantle - CERTAINLY.

Yep. That dude getting tarred and feathered in the preview looked grusome. Aside from what they did to Brandon, we didn't see anything like pouring hot a$$ tar on someone's nekked body and rolling them in chicken feathers, on The Wire.

Anybody watching Generation Kill?

I can't wait for the mini series John Adams to start up. In my opinion that looks about as real life as the wire was. I can feel the fear of Boston when I hear those cannon bursts echo through the night.

Well, Simon is doing a series set in New Orleans once he's done with the Iraq war miniseries.

True Dat!!! :|

Also, all that really matters is that there will not be any show that will resemble the Wire, mainly a predominantly Black character driven show in a predominantly Black city.

So for me the answer to your post is no. There is NO reason for you to have it 52 weeks in a year.

Shit i dont even tink Def Poetry is coming back on. ;)

Not to be critical.

Well, apparently David and Ed teamed up to do Generation Kill, a miniseries for HBO - about the war in Iraq. I'd say in general I would catch it - but I fear David Simon is too liberal, critical, and Democratic for me and my Republican red-blooded butt.

But could be interesting.

....strange that HBO would shell out cash for them to do this new thing, but not for 3 more episodes of The Wire's final season???

I know that they have a show called 12 Miles of Bad Road in the works but I dont know when its supposed to air. They also have a vampire show called True Blood coming from Alan Ball, the man behind 6FU.

They also are producing a series based on the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels, which are awesome books. SHould be a great series, too, but its probably a ways off.
