they made us wait 4 this shit, david and his crew did us dirty. i understand u got the news issue, the cop shop, and the city hall story to tell but don't waste half the show on it. marlo walked away that was corny, if that was the case stringa should of lived on and that should of been him not marlo. marlo did so much ppl wanted to see him come dance in the street with omar, that would of made the true fans happy. if marlo would of had to come to the street and he went at it wid omar and came out the better man, ppl would of respect that way more that he was tired of that gangsta shit.

I cant hate,dude was a newspaperman, he wrote from the angles by which he knows the city best, best believe, with my love for sports, if I wrote this, there wouda been more Cal Ripken, Carmelo Anthony, Sam Cassell, Mugsy Bogues and Ray Lewis angles, he paid the cost, he gets to be the boss

Agreed 'Trout. Season 5 was too fast paced, with too little substance, and too much hyperbole. It felt very much like a ratings driven fiasco, perfectly mirroring the newspaper story line it took up. The Wire cast its net far too wide in this case, especially for a 10 episode season that also took up an entirely new storyline, while also attempting to wrap a highly acclaimed five year series satisfactorally. Perhaps this is a case of art immitating life a little too much?

I think we were distracted by the newspaper storyline, and the hard left turn they took with the whole fake serial killer angle with McNulty and Freamon. The whole thing was hard to incorporate into a very full, and entrenched character and story landscape. We wanted to see more of our favorite characters, and how their stories were going to be handled.
It takes a while to set up a new world within The Wire universe and with only 10 episodes it felt underdeveloped and rushed. Could it have been a better season?....Yes, but it did what it needed to do, and although not always to our liking, we were able to send off our favorite series, and it's characters with some satisfaction.
Here are my favorite seasons:

2. Season 3
3. Season 4
4. Season 2
5. Season 5

I didnt like Marlo walking as much as you did but without a doubt this was a great season
My order: 1, 5, 3, 4, 2
Even though my favorite character in the show died (which upset me a lot) this was still the 2nd best season behind Season 1.
Nothing beats the Original
